The tools on this site are intended as an educational and computational aid for healthcare professionals, healthcare students, and people who want to understand a calculation. They compute a result from the figures you enter and show the working.

They do not verify that those figures are correct, that the product you are holding matches what you typed, or that the resulting dose is appropriate for the patient. A calculator cannot know any of that.

Nothing on this site is medical advice, a diagnosis, a prescription or a recommendation to take or withhold any medicine. The prescriber's order, the product information supplied with the medicine, and local policy govern what is administered.

If you are a patient and something here does not match what you have been told about your own medicine, the people who prescribed or dispensed it are the people to ask. Do not change a dose on the basis of a figure from this site.

The formulas are sourced from published literature, cited on theformulas page, and covered by an automated test suite. Even so, published estimating equations have real limits. Renal function estimates are unreliable where creatinine is changing rapidly. The albumin corrections perform poorly in critical illness. Ideal body weight formulas were derived for drug dosing and describe no one's healthy weight.

Where those limits are known, the relevant page says so. That is not a substitute for judgement about whether an estimate applies to the patient in front of you.

No warranty is given that the site is free of error. If you find one, it is worth telling us, and it is worth checking any figure that matters against a second source regardless.

DoseConvert is not registered as a medical device with the MHRA, the FDA or any other regulator, and is not offered as one. It is a reference and teaching tool.
